CBD FAQ's | Autoimmune Disease Version
CBD (CANNABIDIOL) OIL & TINCTURES 101
CBD products are becoming more popular than ever, especially for people living with autoimmune disorders and other chronic illnesses that cause pain and inflammation. If you're new to researching CBD products, you may have a lot of questions so we're here to help answer some of them for you! What is CBD (Cannabidiol)?
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol is a natural oil derived from both cannabis and hemp plants. The main ingredient in CBD oil is Cannabidiol, which is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid known for it's therapeutic effects, especially helping to manage pain, inflammation and anxiety disorders.
How do you take CBD?
CBD products come in various forms, including oils, tinctures, capsules, edibles, topicals and vape liquids. Each form may have different onset times and durations of effects however CBD oil, tinctures and gummies tend to be the most popular products.
What is the difference between a CBD oil and a CBD tincture?
CBD oil is made by infusing CBD extract into a carrier oil, while CBD tinctures are typically alcohol-based or use a water-soluble base. CBD oil has a slower absorption rate and lower bioavailability, whereas tinctures, especially water-based ones, are absorbed more quickly and efficiently by the body. Tinctures mix well with liquids and have a milder taste, making them more versatile for adding to drinks.
Will taking a CBD tincture make me feel high?
No, taking our CBD tincture, ImmunaCBD, will not give you the "high" feeling. CBD (cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not produce the high feeling that is associated with the cannabinoid THC. CBD products derived from hemp contain only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3% by law), which is not enough to cause any psychoactive effects.
How long does it take for CBD to work for anxiety?
When taking CBD sublingually (underneath your tongue), you should start to feel the effects within 15 to 45 minutes though it may take up to 2 hours, especially if not taken under the tongue. CBD tinctures tend to work quicker than oil based CBD products.
Does CBD have a bad smell?
CBD may have an earthy or coconut smell depending on the carrier oil or water base used (coconut oil is a common carrier oil for CBD). If the CBD oil that you're taking is flavored then it may smell like the flavoring used. Typically CBD oil and CBD tinctures themselves have little to no smell depending on how pure the extract is.
Can CBD cause insomnia?
For most people who take CBD, it has a relaxing affect that can help improve their quality of sleep. However, while very rare, some people may experience the opposite effect and experience insomnia while taking CBD. This is called a paradoxical reaction which means the opposite side effect of what most people experience when taking a supplement or medication.
In what forms can you get CBD?
CBD is available in various forms, including oils, tinctures, capsules, edibles, topicals and more.
What's the difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil (also known as hemp oil)?
While hemp seed oil and CBD oil are derived from the same plant, CBD oil contains CBD while hemp seed oil/hemp oil does not. CBD oil is derived from the leaves, stalks and flowers of the hemp plant while hemp oil is derived from hemp seeds.
Is CBD addictive or habit forming?
There is no evidence to show that CBD is addictive at all since it does not contain any psychoactive properties.
Are there any side effects of taking CBD?
While most people do not experience any side effects, taking CBD may occasionally cause dry mouth, dizziness, changes in appetite and rarely, diarrhea.
What's the difference between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and CBD isolate?
Full spectrum CBD contains not only CBD but other cannabinoids and other plant compounds, including up to 0.03% THC. Broad spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids and plant compounds other than THC.
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD and it does not contain any other cannabinoids.

Is it safe to drive after taking CBD?

Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the body as if they were a foreign cell. Since CBD is thought to have immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effects, it may help modulate the immune response and reduce inflammation associated with autoimmune conditions including, but not limited to:
- Systemic Lupus (SLE)
- Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) & other forms of arthritis including osteaoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) including Crohn's & Colitis

How can CBD help people with lupus?
CBD's potential benefits for lupus are primarily attributed to its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. Lupus is an autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation and the immune system attacking healthy tissues and organs in the body and CBD products may help to fight the inflammation that it causes.
CBD may help lupus by:
- Reducing Inflammation: CBD has been shown in studies to have anti-inflammatory effects, which could potentially alleviate some of the inflammation associated with lupus.
- Pain Relief: CBD's analgesic (pain-relieving) properties may help manage pain and discomfort associated with lupus.
- Immunomodulation: CBD may modulate the immune system, helping to regulate it's response. In autoimmune diseases like lupus that are caused by an overactive immune system, immune modulation may be beneficial.
How might CBD help with managing Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)?
CBD may help alleviate symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis by interacting with the endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating pain, inflammation, and immune responses. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and may reduce pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. Additionally, it might influence immune system responses to help manage symptoms.
What is the best CBD dosage for autoimmune disease?
The optimal CBD dosage can vary greatly from person to person. Factors such as body weight, individual response and the condition being treated can affect the specific dosage.
